just breathe

when you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
~marcus aurelius

a little summertime math....

4 weeks bronchitis
5 full days on the couch
2 rounds of meds
countless hours of little house on the prairie re-runs (nellie olsen is still a bitch)
1 chest xray, what a cool picture that was...
1 (literally) round inhaler
hundreds of dollars for my friendly neighborhood pharmacy
billions of dollars paid to my doctor
31 days of shunning my sneakers
31 days unable to take a deep breath
31 days no training
11 weeks until the nyc marathon

add it all up and realize that without your health you have nothing.

and on the 32nd day, lacing up and taking a deep breath and feeling it all the way down to my toes as i ran the longest and hardest two miles EVER...

....well, that's just precious.

  1. You are going to rock it! Set backs happen (thank goodness for the long training season). Baby steps, patience and trust in what you have already built up will get you there in the end! Way to keep going!

  2. Great post though so sorry to hear of your summer of illness. I had no idea. Glad you're on the mend and back in the saddle!

    You are gonna rock it.

In 11 weeks you will be a NYC ING marathoner - you lucky girl.
