walk around the house like a GIANT champion!

the new york football giants
celebrated their superbowl win today at the parade in new york city.
during the presentation of the keys to the city for each player,
eli addressed the crowd...
manning said the team bought into two messages.
"make it tough, make it possible" and "finish."

i am on my way toward running in the ING new york city marathon on november 4, 2012 with the help of the team at DetermiNation and many donations from many amazing people who have selflessly sponsored me.
my little girl posted her donation to my page today.

she is making it count!  click on the link & check it out....
more exciting news...i found out today i am all set to run the nyc half marathon in march!
my extremely talented artist-cheerleader-publicist-friend, nicole, painted up my running shirt and dropped it by today...

There are no tricks. Run because you have to. Run because you love it. Run because you want to be fast. Run because you want to be skinny. Run to find some quiet time. Run to sweat. Run to eat. Run to hear your heart pound in your ears. Run because you're a runner. Run because you gotta keep the streak. Run because you don't know why the hell you're running. Run because you fought with your partner. Run because your job is shitty. Run because you got no money. Run for the sunrise. Run for a race. Run because it's impossible. Run because it's easy. Run instead of doing the laundry. Run instead of watching TV. Run because no one else understands. Run because the cool kids do it. Run because you're tired of talking. Run for numbers. Run for feel. Run to prove something. Run because it f***ing hurts. Or don't run. If you got something better to do.

miles of mojo

"A Mojo is basically a good-luck-charm. It is a small bag, a type of magic charm, often of red flannel cloth and tied with a drawstring, containing botanical, zoological, and/or mineral curios. It is typically worn under clothing.
Mojos are carried for their supernatural powers, such as protecting from evil or crossed conditions, drawing love, or bringing success."

my pre-run mojo:

there was a nice surprise in the mail today from http://www.GoneRunningSign.com....

love this!
the running has been great but i've been having heel pain that has progressively gotten worse.  ignoring it hasn't helped.  one bit.  (surprise)  i headed to some extraordinary people who help me with my aches and pains.  i went to my chiropractor to get my bones and body aligned.  then i drove to the acupuncture master where i was so relaxed, needles and all, that i almost fell asleep.

my balls...i noticed when i took the picture that they were mojo balls...
then, last night i did some frozen golf ball therapy by standing and rolling the ball from toe to heel over and over and across the speed bump of pain.  the huge knot in my heel was screaming bloody murder.

i tried to recover with a few pieces of this chocolate given to me by my awesome friend ...
a box of magical chocolate...aka....mojo bliss.
but by the time i hit the hay, my heel hurt like the dickens.

she was so proud to share...
groundhog day brought 6 more weeks of winter but joy to my morning when i put my feet to the floor.  i felt remarkably better. there was very little pain.
my daughter said that maybe i felt better because she prayed with her ccd teacher yesterday afternoon.  then she promptly ran upstairs and gave me a two dollar donation for my marathon.

magic potion
i felt better so i decided to run today.  after four miles i went to my girl ellen, a massage therapist, who in the past has helped me tremendously with my piriformis issues.

she did some magical reflexology on my poor beat-up feet and recommended i soak my hooves in water and apple cider vinegar.  i did my homework even though it smelled like easter and the water looked like a very large urine sample.

i'm on the mend and extremely grateful for my amazing support system, especially my man who is the lucky one who gets to massage my feet all the time (insert sarcasm)  and inspires me each and every day as i continue on my journey toward those 26.2 miles.

thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey to the 2012 NYC marathon by donating to the American Cancer Society!!

Sometime in your life you will go on a journey.

It will be the longest journey you have ever taken.
It is the journey to find yourself.
