Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."
~Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
while we were refueling at the hotel in washington, d.c, i asked jessica what her favorite part of the trip was thus far.... rather than speaking, she wrote...
|notice she also liked the breakfast buffet|
we were looking for a place to eat after our long haul the first day, after frolicking to the 95 most important places to experience in the nation's capitol (over the course of a lifetime for most)....so i took it upon myself to interview a few random people on and around pennsylvania avenue as we walked aimlessly (and almost painfully), of course these enthusiastic impromptu tour guides were college-aged, those who know their "fine" establishments. we wound up walking 8,000 blocks to 7th street which leads up to chinatown, but tucked nicely in (or almost adjacent to) chinatown are several very welcoming irish pubs. with fantastic food. a couple of my guides recommended the same place, fado, which is where we wound up on the first day and the last.
we took a tour of the capitol building, and here are just a few pictures....
|the rotunda, just amazing|
